Mzilikazi 4 –
A Mountain Falls
In this fourth and last book of the Mzilikazi series, we follow the Great Bull Elephant from the central plains of South Africa to his final resting place in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. After securing his newly-founded amaNdebele nation in the present-day North West Province, Mzilikazi and his people expanded their territory towards the Batswana lands on the fringes of the Kalahari Desert, as well as to the east and south along the Vaal River. After violent conflict with the migrating Afrikaner Boers, the march towards new territory saw the Great Bull Elephant clash with many other communities. These included Batswana clans, Bapedi, Griqua and even the Zulu that he had left years before! Mzilikazi would meet many new travellers in this part of his life and keep some old friends, like Robert Moffat, who we met earlier in the series
The last years of the Khumalo Chief’s life was marked by significant changes that helped create the borders and communities we know today. Find out how Mzilikazi strengthened the amaNdebele before he joined the ancestors in this last title in the series.
