Week #9 Siege of Mafeking

The black stadt of Mahikeng was also badly affected during the siege of Mafeking. Refugees poured in from the mines near Johannesburg, as well as from the neighbouring farms. It was well known that the Boers didn’t like Mafeking or the Barolong. At first, Baden-Powell did not include the stadt when he prepared the town’s defence, and only did so when he realised that the Boers could go through it to reach Mafeking.
